Playtime was founded in Amsterdam by Carla Jimenez Estevez and Ninjo Andelloe. Two dancers obsessed with the rhythm, history and feeling of traditional Bachata. The mission was simple: bring the real Dominican style to the Netherlands, build a community around it, and create spaces where dancers of every background and level feel at home. Since 2022 Playtime is the home of Dominican Bachata in Amsterdam. A movement built on culture, connection and community. At Playtime we put the culture first. We honour the Dominican Republic roots of the dance, the musicians who keep it alive, and the dancers who carry it forward in the Netherlands and beyond.
